Creativity Insights - April 2025

Shaping Sound, Chasing Stillness

Salut Les Amis! Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how time shapes our work—how certain seasons ask for stillness, while others call for movement. April has been a little of both: a quiet build toward something more expansive. I’ve been deep in rehearsal rooms and reading rooms, chasing sounds and ideas that feel just out of reach. The live set is evolving, new tones are surfacing, and collaborations continue to bring new life into the music.

As always, thank you for walking alongside me. Here’s a look at where things are right now:

1. Prepping for the June 28 Show

Show prep for the June 28 performance is well underway! The set is 60 minutes long and will feature immersive live visuals by Grant Bouvier. I’m joined by the talented Erik Scattareggia on drums and Kyle Rowe on bass. It’s shaping up to be a truly special night.

2. Ameyaxoxo Solo Set – May 9

The solo Ameyaxoxo set on May 9 will be the first test run for this new material in a live setting. It’s a great way to feel out the flow and energy before the full band show. All upcoming show dates are listed on my website—check them out and come say hi!

3. Pedalboard Upgrades in Progress

I’ve been dialing in tones and experimenting with new textures thanks to the latest additions to my pedalboard. This new setup is adding some really interesting elements to the live sound, and I’m stoked for you to hear it in action soon.

4. Guitar Practice: 2-5-1 and Dominant Exploration

Been keeping the fingers moving every day with focused guitar practice. Lately, I’ve been diving into 2-5-1 phrasing and playing with dominant sounds—so much to explore and integrate into my style. Loving the journey!

5. “Caramel Sunset” Playthrough Video Incoming

A new YouTube video featuring a full playthrough of Caramel Sunset is currently being edited! Can’t wait to share this performance and give a closer look at the parts that make up the track.

6. Practice Video Playlist Now Live

All of my recent practice videos are now compiled into one playlist on YouTube. If you're curious about the process behind the sound, check it out and follow along.

7. Upcoming Album Video Shoot

A video shoot for the upcoming album is scheduled for later this April! I’m really excited to be collaborating with these musicians again and to start sharing the visuals and music we’ve been working so hard on.

8. Reading on Indian Political History

I’ve been reading The Indian Problem 1833–1935, a fascinating book that delves deep into the political history and independence struggle in India. Originally part of a report submitted to Nuffield College, Oxford, it's dense but incredibly insightful. You can read the book summaries here.

This newsletter is an ad free, AI free, anti-algorithm oriented piece of my writing where I will continue share all my thoughts and experiences in my creative journey!
